Gu Family book (The Love Story of Kang Chi) - Review

I don’t watch historical dramas often and I admit I started this drama because of Lee Seung Gi. :D However, overall, I found the drama to be enjoyable.

Gu Family book (The Love Story of Kang Chi) is really entertaining. You will fall in love with love more than a hundred times, will eventually fall for Kang Chi's killer smile, be lost in a whirlwind of emotions - hate Jo Gwan-Woong and want to stab him million times, fear death and will admire the strength, goodness and determination of all the characters.

Like what. So a mythical creature and a human completely DO IT?! And mythical creature knocks her up. Human pregoooooo.. And then realize she just did it with a beast? OTOKEHHHH?

She has the baby and he's half beast, half human. This baby is the legendary Lee Seung Gi. Bae Suzy (from Dream High) goes and fall in love with this half beast, half human. Isn't it amazing? Isn't it surprising? Isn't it? :D

Amazing dramas and you never expect what happens next. Face Death. Drama. Revenge. Evil. Rage. Love. Tears. Laughs. It's like an emotional roller coaster.

My favorite character will of course be Choi Kang Chi and Dam Yeo-Wool. They are my favorite on-screen couple now, their love isn't developed in a matter of seconds unlike other drama series, it was a progressive love story that ended up to be a real one. The strength they draw from each other made me realize that love like this is just once in a lifetime. They are willing to save each other even though it means dying.

I smiled a lot, got really scared when they were using their bow and arrows, fell head over heels for their love story and cried for the heart breaking scenes which almost lead them to death. They also had the best kissing scene ever, it's so passionate that you would really think that they were real couples in real life. Arghhh, sweetness overload.

We hear through gisaeng exposition that Jo Gwan-woong got hauled off to Lee Soon-shin, hog-tied and short of one hand. But… I wanted to SEE that. In all its bloody and ridiculous glory. What the hell? :X

In terms of the acting, Lee Seung Gi (as always)was awesome. He was Choi Kang Chi - the sexiest gumiho alive. :D This guy is just amazing at acting and singning and being a comedian. Choi Jin Hyuk and Lee Yo Bi were pleasant surprises, and I will definitely keep my eyes on their next projects. I know Suzy received a lot of hate, but I actually liked her in the role. =) Yes, she didn’t deliver an Oscar-winning performance, but overall, she met up my expectations. In the case of Sung Joon and Yoo Yeon Seok, well, they did whatever they could with their characters. The entire cast was overall good, and my problem was with the lack of layers and development in many of them.

Oh well, I just wish it had a Part Two. :D It's so good that I got addicted to it. LOL. Definitely, it's not boring. =) I think my standards for a Korean Drama just increased because of the good effect of The Love Story of Kang Chi brought me. I don't want it to end. LOL :3

GU FAMILY BOOK Final Chapter - Three Wishes of a Dying Person

Uh… so THAT happened. There are words. They’re forming slowly because I have a melty puddle where my brain used to be. It’s finale time for GU Family Book, and I’ll tell you one thing: It ain’t boring! It just made me burst into tears. T_T

As Yeo Wool starts to struggle against pain she asks Kang Chi to help her up and when he does, she asks him to grant her three wishes. Aww man, is she really gonna die? *sigh* So, that’s how Fate works, and all he can do is accept it. =(

Wish #1: Have a dinner with everyone.
Yeo Wool puts on a brave face and jokes with everyone, reminiscing about when Gon was shorter than her until 10 years old and that he doesn’t like to eat carrots. Apparently, Tae Seo didn’t like carrots either. Suddenly, Yeo Wool struggles in pain and blood begins to drip on the floor. Master Dam tells Yeo Wool to go back to her room to rest and Yeo Wool apologizes to her father. Master Dam then tells Kang Chi that he’s leaving his daughter to him before leaving the table. Awwwe. Nooo…I can’t stand this anymore. =((

Kang Chi carries Yeo Wool back to her room and she tells him Wish #2: Go for a walk with him.

Kang Chi takes Yeo Wool to sit on the rocks near a river. At the lake, Yeo Wool asks Kang Chi why he is afraid of spiders and he tells her its because it has a lot of legs. Kang Chi then asks her if she remembers when he told her that he’d make her his bride. Realization dawns on her and she asks when he remembered.
Kang Chi: “From the moment I knew you were Dam Yeo Wool.”
Yeo Wool: “But, why didn’t you say anything?”

Kang Chi: “Because you already started having meaning for me. Will you marry me?” - Deym! His one eyed crying again. It’s so freakin’ distracting.

Yeo Wool: “I can’t even make good rice.”

Kang Chi: “Will you marry me?”

Yeo Wool: “Not only that, I’m terrible at sewing.”

Kang Chi: “Will you marry me?”

Yeo Wool tells him that she doesn’t want to be a sad memory to him and she wants him to be happy whenever he thinks of her.

He told Yeo Wool that for sure her Wish #3: Let's meet again. Yeo Wool nods and Kang Chi tells her that they will surely meet again and that he’ll wait. They both then tell each other that they love each other. Blue lights begin to float all around them as they kiss. And so Dam Yeo Wool died in Kang Chi's arms. In a voiceover, Kang Chi tells her that the next time they meet, he will be sure to recognize her first and that he’ll love her first. And then…her body goes limp. (Are you serious? Are you freakin’ kidding me? There’s gotta still be a way to save her. *cries*))

I’m so sad for Gon as he stands in the dark courtyard crying alone.=(

Kang Chi is in Yeo Wool’s room deep in thought as Tae Seo comes in. The purple flower is dead in the vase. Kang Chiwonders if Yeo Wool would still be alive if it wasn’t because of him. Tae Seo tells him that if he had to choose between living 100 years alone or 100 days with someone he loves, he would choose the latter. He tells Kang Chi that Yeo Wool was so much happier because of him.

Kang Chi bids farewell to everyone at the academy. Master Dam asks him if he will be looking for the Gu Family Book and Kang  Chi tells him that he’s going to stick it out for a while and wait for Yeo Wool. Gong Dal sends him away with some special medicine and a ring that symbolizes that Kang Chi was his student. Master Dam presents Kang Chi with Yeo Wool’s sword.

Gon doesn’t come out to say goodbye. He stands off in the shadows saying, “Take care, Choi Kang Chi. Live well, my friend.” Kang Chi doesn’t even turn to see him but raises Yeo’s sword as his way of acknowledgement and farewell to Gon.

PLEASE READ!!!
This was made purely in FUN for a media/lit crossover project and for personal viewing pleasure only. i DO NOT own any of the videos used in the above, ALL RIGHTS belong to the ORIGINAL uploaders. Please visit: B2UTY and B2ST

**SYNOPSIS**
Yong Junhyung = Romeo
Park Bo Young = Juliet
Yang Yoseob = Benvolio
Lee GiKwang = Mercutio
Jang Hyunseung = Tybalt
Yoon Dujun = Paris
Son Dongwoon = Prince Escalus

Hopefully everyone knows the main characters in Romeo & Juliet. =) This is a modern day version with a few twists along...
The storyline strongly reflects Romeo & Juliet's timeless epic, but for the twist in B2ST's version, close to the end, Tybalt (Hyunseung) has turned on his own family in a political pull of greed and power and has murdered Juliet's parents and imprisoned her in solitary to set a trap for Romeo (Junhyung) who has become desperate in his attempts to find her...

This was great fun and it was my first time touching a video editor. XD Please forgive my inexperience. LOL. Feel free to follow me on if you are a BEAST fan.
